Our Commitment

Hudson Sites is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to make our website as inclusive as possible.

Conformance Status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Measures We Take

Hudson Sites takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Semantic HTML: We use proper heading structure, landmark regions, and semantic elements to ensure content is logically organized and navigable.
  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements — links, buttons, forms, and modals — are fully operable via keyboard. Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements.
  • Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their background, meeting WCAG AA standards.
  • Alt Text: All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked appropriately so screen readers can skip them.
  • Responsive Design: The site is fully responsive and functions correctly at zoom levels up to 200% and on all common screen sizes.
  • ARIA Labels: Interactive components such as the theme toggle, mobile menu, and contact modal include appropriate ARIA labels and roles.
  • Reduced Motion: We respect the “prefers-reduced-motion” operating system setting. Users who prefer reduced motion will see minimal or no animations.
  • Form Accessibility: All form fields have associated labels, clear placeholder text, and visible focus states. Error messages are descriptive and programmatically associated with their fields.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:

  • Third-party content: Some third-party embedded content may not fully meet accessibility standards.
  • PDF documents: Older PDF files may not be fully accessible. We are working to update them.
  • Animations: Some scroll-triggered animations may not fully degrade in all assistive technology combinations. Content remains accessible regardless of animation state.

Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our Site is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software
  • Keyboard-only navigation
